Stolwijkse Cheese was once better known than Gouda cheese. Today that is no longer true, however the quality is much better. The farmhouse cheese is still made on the farm using unpasteurized , full milk. The raw milk gives the cheese a fuller, sweeter and more intense flavor than the unpasteurized cheeses. We highly recommend this cheese.
Farmhouse Cheese (in Dutch: Boerenkaas)
Farmhouse Cheese is protected by the EU as a traditional specialty. Only Dutch cheese made from raw milk (unpasteurized) which is made in a traditional way on a farm can use the name Farmhouse Cheese. Because it is made on the farm, the cheese has a regional flavor and can the fat percentage of the milk fluctuate slightly because of the non-standardized milk. Try the farm cheese alongside a similar cheese from a factory and we guarantee that you will taste the difference.
